TOPIC OF GDB CS401 (RISC-V vs ARM)
“Internet of Things (IoT) is getting popular day by day, which triggers its adoption for solving domain specific problems. Cities are becoming smart by gathering the context knowledge through sensors and controlling specific parameters through actuators. Students are required to select either RISC-V or ARM Instruction Set Architectures for IoT devices keeping in view their cost, power consumption, and market share. Justify your selection with logical reasoning in either case.”
The Solution of CS401 GDB August 2020
I would like to select RISC-V for Internet of Things (IoT) Devices. It faster, lower-power hardware with a free, open, simple instruction set architecture.
If we see the following requirements then RISC-V is suitable for Internet of Things (IoT) Devices.
Power Consumption: It used low power.
Cost: RISC-V is totally free of cost everyone can use it. There is no license fee.
Market shares: Even Big companies like Google, Mircosemi, NVIDIA, NXP, University of California are the representative of RISC-V.
